Sculptor Franco Vianello’s talents extend to rendering smaller pieces into heroic lost-wax monuments.

LEIF ERIKSSON MEMORIAL

Sculpted to a Heroic Size and Lost-Wax Casting in Bronze by Franco Vianello

Model designed by August Werner

This 18-foot bronze statue honoring Leif Erikson was unveiled during the Seattle World's Fair, coinciding with “Norway Day” at the Century 21 Exposition in June 1962 at the Shilshole Marina. The monumental version was enlarged from a small model and cast by Franco Vianello at his first lost-wax studio foundry, Cera Persa, in Berkeley, California.
